Klaus Bliesener
1980s-2000s
Multiple mystery books from a German author
Klaus Bliesener's work is well known in Germany, but unfortuantely not seen much in English. They're sometimes compared to Hans Jurgen Press's work, with illustrations that are stark but intricate and explorable. Several books have been listed here that are puzzle mysteries, though further information is hard to locate.

The Mel family decides to spend their vacation en Norderoog, an island in the North Sea. The island is beautiful, but there is little to entertain the three young Mel sons. To pass time, the three boys decide to help the local Police. They begin to investigate several different crimes: The sale of illegal tobacco, a robbery involving silverware and valuable antiques, and an attempted jewelry robbery. Throughout each story, clues to the crimes appear in footnotes. Readers are able to solve the cases along with the Lighthouse Detectives. Amusing and clever, this selection helps students to develop their deductive reasoning skills and powers of observation.
