Marvin Miller

1995-1996

A two part series from Miller, following a detectives process through a series of crimes. Readers use illustrations and series of clues to solve the puzzles, before being given a 'detective score'.

Scene of the Crime

Scene of the Crime, takes a similar path to Marvin Miller’s other crime series, this time with you being a recurring detective solving puzzles. Readers play the part of Detective Hawk, a man in a classic detective leather jacket and hat, and as usual, each chapter ends with a visual puzzle to find clues in before progressing.

Readers are given a score, as they were in ‘You be the Detective’ with a subsequent clues page following the main illustrations. The scorecard is a similar setup to other Miller books in an attempt to improve on his winning formula from earlier series like 'You be the Jury'.

Each book has 10 chapters with a puzzle to solve and featured a less cartoony illustration style than earlier Miller books, including stunning, far more realistic cover art, reminiscent of the Clue series artwork.

This series resulted in 2 editions and was Miller’s last multi-book series.
