A spookier take on Usborne's formula, with only one central puzzle throughout.

Usborne Spinechillers

During the main Usborne Puzzle series' this spookier take on the format emerged from various writers. A strange take on the format, being essentially a novel with one mystery running throughout (similar to the Whodunits series), the series offers clues on every double page all culminating in solving the mystery at the end.

The artwork varies between illustrator and is far more watercolor-ey than usual Usborne books, but creates for an interesting tale in each book. Interestingly there are several disputed books at the end of the series, as the format and cover art changed tone into more straightforward novels.

"Packed with thrills and suspense, each tale is illustrated with colour pictures and includes clues and red herrings, giving readers a chance to stay ahead of the action."
