A more location/genre-themed spin-off from the main Usborne Puzzle Adventures. This younger reader series was mostly led by the Susannah Leigh and Brenda Haw team who would also go on to work on other series aimed at kids.
Following the success of Usborne's other puzzle series, two series' aimed at younger children was created in the early 90's, led by the Susannah Leigh/Brenda Haw team. 'Usborne Young Puzzles' was a series of books that each centre around a location or time, with each having a story with characters to follow, as the other series did, but all within a particular theme/setting such as Island, Train, Mountain, Christmas, Ocean etc.
Puzzles are aimed at a younger audience, with some as simple as easy 'spot the difference', but some also a good level of challenging for kids. Usborne Young Puzzles were published as larger-format books, with pages consisting of double-page full-length illustrations - keeping the writing to a minimum, and allowing for more 'search-and-find' puzzles (for example finding blue rabbits on every double page in Puzzle Train).
With 23 books, Usborne Young Puzzles is also the longest running puzzle series from Usborne, spanning nearly two decades, with Leigh/Haw authoring nearly all books, with the exception of several in the middle of the series.
